Plumbers and electricians have started working, blueprints are drawn and meetings with the General Contractor are underway. The vision for The Lighthouse expansion is coming to life!
It’s just a matter of time and funding till we see all of our guests eating together during one lunch service. The need for a hot meal and a loving place to come for the poor in Lexington is so overwhelming that we have more than just outgrown our current building. We have had to add one and occasionally two lunch services. This means that if you are driving by The Lighthouse around noon during the week you will see crowds of people waiting outside in the heat, some in wheelchairs for at least an hour just to come in and eat with us.
After our new building is complete, when you drive by The Lighthouse around lunchtime you will see almost 200 people comfortably seated inside our dining hall all eating in community together at once.
Currently, we serve about 40,000 meals annually. With this new building we will start serving breakfast in addition to lunch and have the capacity to serve over 80,000 meals a year! The need is definitely there.
In addition to tripling the number of people we can serve at one time we Viagra will directly be able to serve these people beyond sharing God’s word and giving them a meal. Below are the additional services we plan to have available to serve the Lexington community.
We envision the day when we will sit next to someone during lunch and while hearing their story be able to take them into a private counseling room to learn that they haven’t had a haircut in three years, don’t own a toothbrush, and have never studied the Bible. Not only will we listen, but we will have the resources to help rebuild lives. We do not want to see anyone fall through the cracks.
God’s provision is amazing and we believe he has ordained this as the time for us to expand and be his hands and feet to his children in Lexington. We want to invite our community to be a part of this work. We still need some help getting the building ready. The dining room needs to be gutted and the ceiling needs to be scrubbed before we can get started working. If anyone has a group that is interested in coming to help clean up the building, please let us know!
