Our Story

Our Ministry

The Lighthouse Ministries’ Nehemiah House was the vision of Teen Challenge graduate Dan Henderson and his wife Tay. Dan passed away in 2004, but the Nehemiah House continues under Tay’s leadership as the Executive Director. The Nehemiah House provides stable and safe temporary housing for men who enter the available programs. Through this ministry, the Nehemiah House continues to conform to Dan’s vision of a safe environment for men to regain their footing within society.

Mission Statement

The Lighthouse Ministries is a non-profit, faith-based organization dedicated to reaching the low and moderate income population of Lexington, and the Fayette County area, by providing free meals for people in need, and also by providing housing and support for men who are disadvantaged, whether due to recent imprisonment, drug-related issues, or poverty. The lighthouse also provides educational and psychological support for people who are in need of drug, alcohol and vocational rehabilitation.

Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible authoritative Word of God.

We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, death, through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for salvation of the lost souls and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. This event we hold to be an experience, rather than a doctrinal supposition.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost.

We believe in the spiritual unity of the Believers in Christ and together they form one body, the CHURCH.
